This project is adding information on invasive plant species to the Fire Effects Information System (FEIS). Literature reviews covering a total of 60 nonnative invasive plant species are being added to FEIS or receiving synthesis of new information. Thirty-seven species are covered by completely new reviews; 23 species were previously in the system, so they are receiving a synthesis of new with old information. This task has linked FEIS to other Internet sites with high-quality information on invasive species. In the process of writing species reviews, we have recorded information on knowledge quality and knowledge gaps and are completing a paper that describes the state of our current knowledge about invasive species and fire. The species reviews produced by this task will improve management decisions regarding fire and nonnative invasive species. The paper describing knowledge gaps will assist scientists and managers in determining research priorities.
