Within the FRAMES regions, wildland fire content is aggregated at a geographic level relevant to wildland fire management. The FRAMES regions mostly* correspond to the boundaries of the ten Geographic Area Coordinating Centers (GACC) designated by the National Interagency Coordination Center (NICC).

Each FRAMES regional fire portal provides an opportunity for collaboration between researchers and managers located within that particular region. FRAMES is working with regional researchers and managers (including some members of the JFSP Fire Science Exchange Network), to provide access to geographically-based and nationally relevant resources.

*FRAMES has combined the Northern California GACC and the Southern California GACC into the California Fire Portal. Conversely, FRAMES has split Hawaii from the Northern California GACC into its own regional fire portal.

The Joint Fire Science Program (JFSP) has a regional Fire Science Exchange Network, staffed by local experts, to help connect managers, practitioners and scientists working within ecologically similar regions. FRAMES is partnering with some of these exchanges to provide customized access to the FRAMES Resource Catalog:

Alaska Fire Science Consortium: hosting their Alaska Reference Database
Great Plains Fire Science Exchange: hosting their Literature Searches
North Atlantic Fire Science Exchange: adding content to the Eastern Fire Portal
Northern Rockies Fire Science Network: sharing content to their Database
Southern Fire Exchange: hosting Tall Timbers EV Komarek Fire Ecology Database
Southwest Fire Science Consortium: hosting Top Ten Fire Management Searches
