The California Fire Science Consortium (CFSC) is one of fifteen regional consortia supported by the Joint Fire Science Program and is part of a national fire science knowledge exchange network. The CFSC is a network of scientists and managers funded by the Joint Fire Science Program to synthesize local fire science and encourage collaboration between fire researchers, land managers, and stakeholders. Along with a number of other regional groups across the United States, we have received multi-year funding from the Joint Fire Science Program to improve the quality and timeliness of the two-way movement of fire science information between scientists, land managers, and stakeholders in the state's fire community. Our primary goals as a consortium are twofold: (1) To become a clearinghouse for all fire science resources relevant to the regions within the state of California, and (2) To encourage collaboration between fire researchers and land managers and other stakeholders. Along these lines, we hope to make this website a centralized resource that can be used to both get access to and to better understand fire science, as well as to open new channels of communication and encourage the creation of applicable science.
