An annual area burned forecast model has been developed using monthly temperature and precipitation and other monthly teleconnection indices. This early season forecast may benefit fire managers and assist in pre-season planning. ALFRESCO has also been utilized to estimate the probability and conditions that would result in grassland dominance.
