The Wildland Fire Emissions Inventory System (WFEIS) came out of a NASA Applied Science program focused on creating maps of regional-scale wildland fire carbon emissions using the Consume emissions model and the Fuel Characteristic Classification System (FCCS) for describing fuelbeds. As these tools have evolved, WFEIS has too, with more emphasis on pollution emissions, as well as finer scale emissions maps. In this presentation we will review the basics of WFEIS, its overlap with other fire decision-support tools, and recent updates to its functionality and utility for decision-making. We will provide you with a general idea of when WFEIS can help in your assessment of fire emissions, and answer questions about the system and its new functionality.
