The best time to become Firewise is before the next fire starts.

Registration for the event is FREE and includes all class material, lunch on day 1 and lunch on day 2. The first 20 registrants will receive free Thursday night lodging at the Quality Inn Valley Suites, E. 8923 Mission Ave, Spokane WA, 99212, 509-928-5218. What you will learn:

-What the Spokane County Community Wildfire Protection Plan is and what you can do.
-The history of the Valley View Fire.
-An introduction to fire behavior.
-Bark beetles and how they affect forest health.
-Tour a Firewise community.
-How individuals and communities can reduce unnecessary losses from wildfires.
-Department of Natural Resources (DNR) programs and other potential funding sources for fuels reduction.
-Creating defensible space around homes and neighborhoods.
-Plus, all participants who complete the workshop receive free training materials.
