This field tour will visit two State Parks at Lake Tahoe, Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park and Emerald Bay State Park on June 11th 2013. At Sugar Pine Point, we will tour a prescribed burn plot near the lake shore that has been burned three times: in 1992, 1997 and 2007. At Emerald Bay, we will tour the forest on Emerald Point, which was never logged and is some of the finest old growth at Lake Tahoe. What are the management options for this area? Our tour guide will be Rich Adams, California State Parks Forester II and Prescribed Fire Burn Boss.
If attending please dress for all types of weather, be prepared to walk over uneven ground, and bring a sack lunch. More information will be emailed to registrees prior to the trip.
