Alaska Fire Applications and Modeling Committee presents a winter webinar on WIMS.

Presenters: Jan Passek, USFWS Wildland Fire Specialist–Planner, and Sharon Alden and Heidi Strader, Fire Weather Program Managers from the Alaska Interagency Coordination Center

Target Audience: Users of the Weather Information Management System (WIMS) to input daily weather observations used to calculate Fire Danger.

•WIMS roles and responsibilities focusing on the station owner responsibilities as well as the editor responsibilities.
•Access Control Lists—what are they, who controls them?
•Care and feeding of the station catalog—to include when to freeze and green up stations
•A little NFDRS review
•A little Firefamily plus review—looking for missing data and data errors and make corrections into WIMS
•Weather Detective—where to look for missing data, (WIMS, ROMAN, AICC database)
•What to look for on Monday Mornings to ensure weekend weather is updated
