Title: Tundra plant species and ecosystem response to environmental change

Abstract: TBA

About the Speaker: I am an Associate Professor of Plant Biology in the Department of Biology and Wildlife and Institute of Arctic Biology, and also the Associate Science Director for Toolik Field Station. My research focuses on the interactions between plants and community or ecosystem processes in arctic tundra, taking a broad and interdisciplinary approach to questions in plant ecology and plant physiology. In recent years, I have studied how plant species affect the trajectory of tundra response to increased soil nutrient availability, the interactions between shrubs and snow and their implications for ecosystem cycling of C and N, and vegetation and soil dynamics following a large and unusual tundra fire.
