The objective of the Fire Use Modules Operations Guide is to provide standards for the operations of all Fire Use Modules (FUM). These standards will be used by staff, supervisors, specialists, and technicians for planning, administering and conducting FUM operations. These standards are to be used as a measure of FUM qualifications whether Type 1 or Type2. The intention of this document is to provide interim guidance for fire use module operations. When Appropriate Management Response is fully implemented, it is the goal that all fire handcrews will be trained and qualified to perform the functions of a fire use module. Until then, this guide should be used as reference of expected performance that fire use modules provide for the interagency fire community.
