Lesson Overview: Students assess their school’s fire preparedness following Firewise recommendations. They will examine their school Immediate, Intermediate, and Extended Zones to collect data on school’s fire preparedness. They will use this data in a future lesson to report to administrators and school board and make a plan to assist with making suggested changes.
Lesson Goal: For students to get hands on practices evaluating the school and grounds to see how well they follow Firewise design.
Objectives:
- Students can collect the data needed to see how well their school follows Firewise recommendations.
- Students can compile and compute data into a presentable format.
- Students can present their findings in front of their peers.
