This article, the second in a three-part series pertaining to FIRETEC, focuses on a project funded by the U.S. Department of Defense that should be of particular interest to fre managers. The frst article described the development and capabilities of FIRETEC, a physics-based wildland fre model; it also introduced the project portrayed here. This article outlines general project design, expected benefts to the wildland fre community, and preliminary project results. The third article will give additional project results and more specifc information on project design, inputs, and analysis.
