The first phase of the Florida Area Cumulus Experiment (FACE) has been completed. This program was designed to determine whether dynamic seeding (using silver iodide pyrotechnics dropped into supercooled convective clouds near their tops) can be used to augment convective precipitation over an extensive area (1.3 x 104km2) in South Florida. First results are most encouraging.
