This proceedings deals mainly with forest ecosystems (both plant and animal) in Canada and Alaska, with some Finnish experience included. The papers are arranged under the following headings: (1) Resource inventory; (2) Dynamics-nutrient cycling; (3) Dynamics-succession; (4) Dynamics-fire; (5) Food and energy potentials; (6) Environmental impacts; (7) Management and research. The total number of papers presented is 41, distributed between the respective sections as follows: 7, 4, 5, 6, 8, 4, 7. Section 5 covers a range of resources, which includes agriculture, fisheries, horse production, and peat bioconversion.
