DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

This position assists with timber management by marking and estimating timber stumpage on sale areas; assists in vegetation analysis, layout and boundary marking of regeneration project areas including tree planting, herbicide, deer fencing and prescribed fire projects; and assists with surveying, engineering and marking of timber sale haul roads, log landings and skid trails. This position assists in identifying forest insect and disease problems, disease pre-suppression and suppression activities, surveillance flights, ground checking and insecticide applications; assists in the identification and locating populations of invasive plant species and participates in appropriate control measures; and assists with wildland fire prevention, pre-suppression, suppression and mop-up activities. Duties also include operating ATV's, UTV's, snowmobiles, power saws and power sprayers as part of accomplishing necessary duties.
