The Southern Rockies Fire Science Network has released a new publication titled A Review of regional Gambel Oak ecology, managment challenges, and research needs.

Gambel Oak is a ubiquitous part of the southern Rockies ecosystem, extending from central and northern Utah through southern and central Colorado, to areas along the southern Front Range. However, regional scientific research is lacking for this species, and its widespread presence and vigorous growth habits present management challenges both in public lands and the wildland-urban interface.

SRFSN offers this publication, based on literature reviews, workshops with managers, and the authors' perscpectives and experience as a basis for future research and knowledge exchange about this widespread habitat.
