The Alaska Reference Database originated as the standalone Alaska Fire Effects Reference Database, a ProCite reference database maintained by former BLM-Alaska Fire Service Fire Ecologist Randi Jandt. It was expanded under a Joint Fire Science Program grant for the FIREHouse project (The Northwest and Alaska Fire Research Clearinghouse). It is now maintained by the Alaska Fire Science Consortium and FRAMES, and is hosted through the FRAMES Resource Catalog. The database provides a listing of fire research publications relevant to Alaska and a venue for sharing unpublished agency reports and works in progress that are not normally found in the published literature.

The expected pattern of disturbance propagation across a landscape was studied by using simple landscape models derived from percolation theory. The spread of disturbance was simulated as a function of the proportion of the landscape occupied by the disturbance-prone habitat and…

From the introduction: The purpose of the Symposium on Wildland Fire 2000 was to examine the 'possible, preferred, and probable status of wildland fire management and research in the year 2000 and beyond' (David and Martin 1987). A half-day 'futuring' session was an integral…

Wildland fire managers and planners rely heavily on information that describes environmental and sociological factors. Complex and dynamic interactions among these factors are commonplace, but difficult to model and portray in a useable and understandable way. And when dealing…
