- February 2023 - Nominations for Cohort #2 open
- April 26th, 2023 - Nominations due from Forests seeking to participate in the national GS-0401-05/07/09 Fuels Specialist hiring event; after this date HR will follow-up with each Forest to develop Outreach and set up particulars for the hiring event.
- May 1st - June 1st, 2023 - Work with Regional Training Officers as necessary to prioritize nominations.
- May 26th, 2023 - Outreach for Fuels Specialist Trainee positions; issue
- June 26th - July 5th 2023 - Job Announcements
- June 2023 - Letter will be sent to all Supervisors that sent nominations to inform them of the results of the nomination process and whether or not their nominations(s) were accepted for Fuels Academy #2.
- August - September 2023 - Job offers for Fuels Specialist Trainees made/accepted and positions filled. All hiring processes, whether pursued locally or as a part of the national Fuels Specialist Hiring, should conclude by August 2023. On-boarding, moving, transfer of station and other activities may still occur after this date.
- September 2023 - Identify by name, all the Fuels Trainees slated to enter the Fuels Academy.
- October 2023 - Welcome letter sent to all Fuels Academy #2 participants and their Supervisors to introduce them to the Academy. Include a schedule, logistics, on-line training resources and other pertinent information.
- January/February 2024 - USFS Fuels Academy Cohort #1 attends the first residential Academy session.
