Air Quality Index

The EPA's Air Quality Index, or AQI, can be an important resource for checking air quality in your area. The AQI takes into account health risks for daily air quality. The index is calculated primarily for particulate matter and ozone, and is color coded to indicate health risk. These risks are tied to specific National Ambient Air Quality Standards, which we will discuss in Module 2. A table of Air Quality Index levels can be seen in the figure below.
