    The Alligator Alley Incident: Lessons Learned

    No one disputes the tragedy which occurred on January 25th. With regards to the burn on the 24th, it was shown to have complied with all federal, state, and agency regulations and authorizations, as well as taking place under favorable weather conditions outlined in the burn plan. In this case, all the refuge personnel directly involved with the burn have been able to carry on with their careers because of the careful manner in which the burn was carried out. This demonstrates the importance of many of the procedures and policies.
