The New Mexico Forestry Division is hiring a Prescribed Burn Program Coordinator to lead the development of New Mexico's new Certified Burn Manager Program. The Certified Prescribed Burn Manager (CPBM) serves as the state expert and point of contact for the Prescribed Burn Manager Certificatlon Program and Is primarily responsible for the development of the program In accordance with the New Mexico Prescribed Burning Act (House Bill 57). This position Is responsible for managing all aspects of the program development, implementation, and maintenance, to include system Implementation, policy, and procedure development, reporting compliance and budget/fiscal Issues. The CPBM is responsible for working with New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service and a variety of federal agency and non-profit cooperators and overseeing Implementation of the New Mexico Prescribed Burn Manager Certification training program, including course content, validation of participant qualifications, successful program completion, and tracking and reporting of program accomplishments and requirements. This position is the primary point of contact for the State of New Mexico Forestry Division staff, New Mexico Prescribed Fire Council, Iandowners, landowners' agents, contractors, and legally authorized designees related to prescribed fire training and has a key role In the determining prescribed fire training needs associated with HB57. The CPBM Is responsible for the establishment of a model prescribed burn permit for use by county and municipal local governments. This position will be the primary point of contact and will provide guidance, technical assistance and overall expertise for the design, development, implementation, and continued operation of the model prescribed burm permit system.
