The Alaska Interagency Coordination Center (AICC) is working with the developers of FireCast, an automated software service developed to provide real-time analysis of wildfire behavior, to trial the system in Alaska during the 2023 fire season. AFSC is helping support training for Alaska users. There will be two training sessions, and AFSC will record and post both:
Tuesday, May 16: 1200-1400 AKDT
This session is intended for both general users (FMOs etc) and SMEs (FBANs, IMETs). Heidi Strader will introduce FireCast and describe how data products can be accessed. Cordy Tymstra and Rob Bryce of Heartland Software Solutions will present on the basic features of FireCast. If possible, please contact Heidi (heidi_strader@nps.gov) in advance to set up a FireCast account so the session can be interactive and productive. The software is most easily viewed with a computer or iPad that enables landscape mode.
Wednesday, May 17: 1100-1300 AKDT
This session is intended for SMEs (FBANs, IMETs) to build on the first session and go deeper into the specifics of the software. If possible, please attend the Tuesday introduction and contact Heidi (heidi_strader@nps.gov) in advance to set up a FireCast account so the session can be interactive and productive.
