Plumas County Cal-TREX (February 24-26, March 24-26 and onward)

The event is open to individuals who are interested in learning and sharing their knowledge of prescribed fire. The event will be focused on local capacity building.

The Plumas Cal-TREX training includes several components:

  1. February 24: RT-130 Refresher Course/Arduous Work Capacity Test/practice shelter deployment.
  2. February 25-26: Pre-fire training. This weekend will focus on hands-on learning opportunities and developing crew cohesion. Exercises will incorporate equipment utilization, weather and fuel observations, fireline leadership skills, and information about local fire ecology and fire management. *If this weekend falls during a burn window there will be potential to utilize live fire.
  3. March 24-26: This scheduled training weekend will prioritize live fire. If a burn window is not available, additional hands-on training activities will be offered.
  4. After the scheduled training weekends, participants will be on call for prescribed fire training opportunities as burn windows become available throughout the year.
  5. Monthly classroom and field-based training opportunities, including NWCG certifications (See questions below for potential offerings).
