In-woods Biochar Production (CharBoss Demonstration)

Description

The USDA Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Research Station (RMRS) is excited to announce the first demonstration of 2022 for the CharBoss in Idaho. The CharBoss is an in-woods biochar production unit that was developed under a USDA Cooperative Research and Development Agreement in partnership with Forest Service Research & Development and State & Private Forestry, and Air Burners, Inc. RMRS is co-hosting this demonstration with Air Burner, Inc., and the University of Idaho College of Natural Resources.

The demonstration will be at the University of Idaho Experimental Forest at the West Hatter Parking area. Short directions: From Highway 95, take Highway 6 to Princeton, ID and turn onto the Hatter Creek Road.

  • Be prepared for wind, rain, snow, mud, and sun.
  • This site is accessible and there is no gate so you are welcome to come and go, as fits your schedule.
  • If you would like to take home a biochar sample from the demonstration bring a suitable container!
  • The President and Engineer at Air Burner, Inc will be on-site to answer technical questions. RMRS scientists will also be available to discuss biochar production and use.
