Michele has worked for the National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) since 2002. NFPA is a global self-funded nonprofit organization devoted to eliminating death, injury, property, and economic loss due to fire, electrical and related hazards. She authors the wildfire column for NFPA Journal. Most recently, Michele was selected to serve on the presidential Wildland Fire Mitigation and Management Commission, tasked with forming federal policy recommendations and strategies on ways to better prepare for, manage, respond to, and recover from wildfires.

Michele’s previous roles included Massachusetts state floodplain management, FEMA hazard mitigation grant oversight, and projects for the nonprofit Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS).
