Walk into Wildland Fire: Wednesday Lunch & Learn Speaker Series

Description

The Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center is hosting "Walk into Wildland Fire" - an immersive virtual exhibit - from July 1 through August 31, 2022. The Lake States Fire Science Consortium is among the exibit sponsors.

The Wednesday Lunch & Learn Speaker Series is being held in conjunction with the exhibit:

  • July 6th - Eric North - Landscape ecology, ecological restoration, and pollinator habitat in the Moquah Pine barrens
  • July 13th - Brian Sturtevant - Fire research and Soil studies
  • July 20th - Andy Edwards - Bear Surveys and Wolf Tracking in Redcliff and Washburn area
  • July 27th - Catherine Koele - Wildfires in Wisconsin: Prevention, education, resources
  • August 3rd - Brian Heeringa - Fires role in managing habitat for the Sharp-tailed Grouse
  • August 10th - TBD
  • August 17th - TBD
  • August 24th - TBD
  • August 31st - TBD

The exhibit also includes educational panels about the history, practice and culture behind fire in land  management and screenings of "Oshkigin: Spirit of Fire" - an educational film about the history and cultural significance of fire among Great Lakes Anishinaabe people.
