In-person and virtual meeting among University of Alaska research team and Fairbanks’s stakeholders regarding NSF Grant: Collaborative Research: Arctic Urban Risks & Adaptations (AURA): co-production framework for addressing multiple changing environmental hazards.
Purpose of Meeting:
- Provide an opportunity to meet in person if wanted - Fairbanks key experts (i.e. Fairbanks North Star Borough, City of Fairbanks, State of Alaska, Federal agencies, and UA Research Team
- Provide updates on mapping of our hazards (wildfire, icing, and permafrost thaw)
- Gather feedback on research products and integration with current efforts
- Discuss hazards and potential mitigation actions, risk mapping, and potential end points
The first session of five is about wildfire (1:30-2:00 AKST) and the presenter is Jen Schmidt of the University of Alaska, Anchorage:
- Current results from wildfire hazard modeling and next steps (20 minutes)
- Discussion: Potential use of the data/findings, incorporation into current/future plans (5 minutes)
