This 2-hour virtual event will deliver science and management information on the recent and ongoing reintroduction of the brown-headed nuthatch to the Missouri Ozarks. Long-term, landscape-scale restoration of the fire-adapted shortleaf pine – oak woodlands on the Mark Twain National Forest have created the required habitat (mature pine woodlands with an open understory) to make this reintroduction possible. This ecological success story results from a diverse partnership including: Missouri Department of Conservation, Mark Twain National Forest, USDA Forest Service Northern Research Station, University of Missouri, Ouachita National Forest, Central Hardwoods Joint Venture, and Tall Timbers Research Station.

Three short presentations by associated experts will set the stage, followed by a panel discussion answering attendees pre-submitted and live questions. You will have an opportunity during registration to submit questions in advance for the panel to consider.
