Tentative Dates: Oct 19 - Nov 2, 2020

Objectives: To increase fire department capacity to plan and implement good fire projects in the wildland urban interface to mitigate unwanted fire effects to local communities.

Target Group: A diverse applicant pool of prescribed fire and wildfire personnel from local governments is desired, all agency and non-governmental organization fire personnel are welcome.

Registration Fee: The fee is $300. Fees may be waived for participants who bring equipment (e.g. engines, UTVs, etc.)

Description: Participants will serve in NWCG qualified and trainee positions and will assist with preparing, scouting, briefing, igniting, holding, mop-up, and patrol on controlled burns in the area. There will be opportunities for pre- and post-fire monitoring, training with equipment, and practice of fire line leadership skills. Participants will also learn about local fire ecology and fire management practices and techniques.

Applications are due by Friday, July 31, 2020. Space is limited and selections will be made by Friday, August 14, 2020.
