This class covers all aspects of restoring degraded or burned sagebrush steppe plant communities (see class flowchart). It includes a hands-on case study to apply principles learned in the class. The instructor cadre includes subject matter experts (USGS, NRCS, BLM, ARS) in restoration planning and implementation. Students will learn about prioritizing areas for restoration, developing sound objectives and appropriate monitoring strategies to incorporate into a restoration plan. Implementation treatments including but not limited to mechanical treatments, prescribed fire, herbicides, seeding and biological controls. This course is open to state and federal agency personnel, NGO’s and others. See the following section for information on eligibility to enroll in the class, tuition, and registration.
