Workshops, Trainings and Fieldtrips

Location

Holly Ridge Community Center
404 Sound Road, Holly Ridge, NC

Join us as we bridge the gap between science and management when it comes to issues related to managing fire in ecosystems with organic soils. This workshop will be a true exchange designed to expose natural resource managers to useful scientific studies and expose scientists to issues and concerns from the perspective of the resource managers.

The morning half of the workshop will be spent in the classroom and will include presentations from:

  • Dr. Jim Reardon, US Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station
  • Dr. Brian Benscoter, Florida Atlantic University
  • Gary Curcio
  • Corey Davis, NC Climate Office
  • Casey Phillips, NC Wildlife Resources Commission

After a lunch, we will visit nearby Holly Shelter Game Land to tour and discuss sites where prescribed fire and wildfire have occurred in organic soils. The field tour will start at approximately 1:00 PM ET and the event will conclude by 4:00 PM ET.
