Workshops, Trainings and Fieldtrips

On Friday, May 10, 2019, the Green Mountain National Forest will host a field trip for a small cadre of monitoring enthusiasts to hike The Dome and share thoughts on the history, recent burn, and future monitoring activities in this ecosystem.

Space is extremely limited, and FFT2 or greater fireline quals may be required. If you are interested in participating in this NAFSE field trip, please contact Amanda Mahaffey at amanda@forestguild.org.

The Dome is a mountainside areas within the Green Mountain National Forest home to oak forest with significant ecological value. This spring, a prescribed burn will be conducted to enhance habitat for wildlife and rare plants, and to counteract the mesophication of this stand.

The planned management activities provide an excellent opportunity for fire scientists and managers to explore questions related to fire and fuels monitoring techniques to capture first- and second-order fire effects.
