2nd Heart of the Continent Science Symposium

The Heart of the Continent Partnership (HOCP) is a Canadian/American coalition of land managers and local stakeholders working together on cross-border projects that promote the economic, cultural and natural health of the lakes, forests and communities on the Ontario/Minnesota border. The scientific committee for the HOCP Science Symposium invites high quality social, cultural, andecological research that has been conducted within – or that is directly relevant to – the Heart of the Continent geographic boundaries (see green area in map).

The HOCP Science Symposium seeks to:

  • Improve understanding of natural and cultural resources across the HOCP
  • Raise awareness of threats and management challenges to the preservation of those resources
  • Promote collaboration among scientists, managers, and other partners across political, cultural, and administrative boundaries so that resources can be better managed in a landscape context.
