Webinar Description: A significant amount of research has examined what motivates people living in the WUI to mitigate their wildfire risk, but drawing over-arching conclusions is difficult given the myriad of ways researchers have conceptualized and operationalized preparedness. This webinar examines how researchers have measured wildfire preparedness in the literature, and how operationalization of preparedness influences subsequent analyses and interpretations of preparedness. Results reveal more nuanced relationships between demographic factors and preparedness than previous research suggests, and underscore the importance of non-fire motivations for completing risk-mitigating activities. Research discussed will includes studies of the Southeastern U.S. A Q/A session will follow the webinar.

Event Registration: Pre-registration for the webinar is required. Once registered, participants will receive an Eventbrite Ticket email containing the Zoom webinar link. On the day of the webinar, click the link to join the meeting.
