The Alaska Forum on the Environment (AFE) is Alaska's largest statewide gathering of environmental professionals from government agencies, non-profit and for-profit businesses, community leaders, Alaskan youth, conservationists, biologists and community elders. The diversity of attendees and comprehensive agenda sets this conference apart from any other.

Wildfire and Smoke: Addressing Air Health Hazards from Increasingly Severe Events
The session will summarize the health effects from exposure to wildfire and smoke; describe increasing frequency and severity of wildfire events and the resulting impacts to ambient air quality, indoor air quality and climate health; showcase successful Tribal environmental programs that protect their community during wildfires and smoke events; and share resources and outreach materials.

FireWise: Looking Ahead for Alaska and Your Community
An examination of historical trends relating to wildland fires within the state. How do these trends impact risk to communities moving forward? And what can be done to mitigate fire hazard impacts on a community level?
