2013 Stewardship Network Conference - The Science, Practice & Art of Restoring Native Ecosystems

Join us again for another great conference in 2013! We'll be gathering January 18th and 19th in East Lansing, MI. Learn more at www.StewardshipNetworkConference.org. We're in the process of developing our 2013 agenda. If you've never attended a Science, Practice & Art of Restoring Native Ecosystems conference, please explore this site to see what we offered last year, and email any questions to staff@stewardshipnetwork.org.

Community conservation catalyzes, facilitates, trains and provides resources to empower people from all walks of life to engage in caring for the natural world around them. As this is what The Stewardship Newtork does every day, I am very pleased to announce Community Conservation as the theme of our 2013 Science, Practice & Art of Restoring Native Ecosystems conference. Please join us in January 2013 for our sixth gathering.

Through plenary talks, focused presentations and workshops, conference participants will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of how effective community conservation can be developed and what it can accomplish. All these issues and more are enhanced through community conservation:

Global Biodiversity
Water Quality
Environmental Justice
Species of Concern
Watershed Protection
Prescribed Fire
Game Species
Areas of Concern
Invasive Species Control
Environmental Education
Sustainable Land Use
Native Pollinators

This approach engages local people (aka us in our own backyards) to manage and conserve natural resources within the social, cultural and economic context of their communities and facilitates the widespread, global adoption of community-based conservation.

Save these dates! We look forward to seeing you at the 2013 Science, Practice & Art of Restoring Native Ecosystem conference.
