Wildfires are a problem in virtually every part of the United States, and wildland agencies have largely been unable to reduce wildland/urban interface destruction through traditional fire response procedures. NFPA's Firewise Communities program encourages local solutions for wildfire safety by involving the community in helping to protect people and property from the risk of wildfire. NFPA uses the latest knowledge and resources to bring you this 2-day workshop, which is designed to: Increase your understanding and competency in wildland urban interface fire mitigation. Increase your understanding and use of NFPA 1141 and NFPA 1144. Assist wildfire mitigation and prevention professionals, regardless of organizational affiliation, in assessing risks to individual homes in wildland, forested or grassland areas. Encourage and prepare residents and homeowner associations to participate in the Firewise Communities/USA recognition program.
