The Pacific Southwest Research Station, Stanislaus National Forest, and the CFSC would like to invite practitioners, line officers and resource managers for a field trip to the Stanislaus-Tuolumne Experimental Forest (STEF) on Friday, August 24, 2012. We will be looking at the STEF as a case study for learning about the implementation of variable density thinning and other concepts described in GTRs 220 and 237.

The objectives are to provide an opportunity to learn from the experiences of those who are implementing GTR 220/237 concepts, and to illustrate what implementation of these concepts looks like on the ground. Topics will include an overview of structural heterogeneity and forest resilience, marking prescriptions and wildlife structures, and economic considerations.

Please contact Chris Mallek to sign up for the field trip. Space is limited so interested individuals are encouraged to sign up early. If you are unable to attend and wish to suggest an alternate attendee please feel free to do so. More information will be shared with the final group.
