2012 Fire and Water Quality Conference - Banff, Canada

Description

The International Committee on Continental Erosion (ICCE) of the International Association for Hydrological Science (IAHS) is pleased to announce the ''Wildfire and Water Quality: Processes, Impacts and Challenges'' conference will be June 11-15, 2012 at The Banff Centre, Banff, Alberta, Canada. This conference will bring together researchers and practitioners from diverse fields of hydrology, sediment transport, water quality and watershed management to improve knowledge of the impacts of large scale landscape disturbances by wildfire on freshwater ecosystems and better elucidate processes that influence the source, transport and fate of contaminants in the environment. A key goal of this conference is to enable stakeholders to utilize this information to better model, plan and manage wildfire impacted watersheds. The Symposium program will consist both of plenary and parallel sessions for oral presentations and poster sessions. The deadline for abstract submission for oral presentation is November 30, 2011. Only abstracts of authors who have paid their registration fees by 15 March 2012 will be scheduled into the final program. Submit abstracts to Mike Stone (mstone@uwaterloo.ca).
