The Eastern Nevada Landscape Coalition invites you to join us in Ely for our Semi Annual Meeting, June 6-8, 2012, at the Bristlecone Convention Center. The meeting will start early in afternoon on June 6th to allow for travel to Ely. Friday morning, June 8th will consist of a field tour which will be concluded no later than noon.
We are excited about this year's program. We have partnered with the Pinyon Juniper Partnership to bring you a unique series of presentations covering the ecological changes resulting in the current Pinyon and Juniper (PJ) issues. We will also discuss using the biomass from the PJ to help pay for the restoration process. The theme for the 2012 conference is Pinyon Juniper Utilization – Working at the Margins.
The first afternoon will focus on ecology and how we got to where we currently are. Thursday's agenda is targeted at harvesting and utilizing the PJ biomass. The presentations on Thursday will cover everything from traditional harvesting processes like firewood to some of the current machinery that will cut and bale a whole tree for transportation. Friday morning's field tour will include a biochar and biochar kiln demonstration. For your convenience we have enclosed the meeting schedule, a pre-registration form and a list of local motels. Please note the barbecue dinner on Thursday night is not included in your registration this year, you will have to sign up for this separately.
The deadline for pre-registration is June 1, 2012.
