Linkages between water quality and forest fires are a recurring theme in New Mexico communities. Last summer's Las Conchas Fire in Northern New Mexico affected not only individual communities, but also the economic development, ecological systems, recreational interests, community health, and municipal water supply throughout the region. Learning from this devastating fire can help all New Mexicans protect our valuable natural resources. For these reasons, New Mexico's Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (NM EPSCoR) is convening a two-day town hall where participants will explore the impact of fire on the region, lessons learned that can be applied in future situations, and put forth their best ideas for policy changes. Seating is limited, early registration is highly recommended.
