Managing Alaska Forests, Supporting Alaskan Markets 2012 Conference

The 2012 Alaska SAF Conference will focus on new research in forestry and the economic impact of sustainable forest management. This year�۪s meeting will also include site visits demonstrating new technologies in forest management and to a local tree nursery. In addition, SAF is offering a half-day training course on SDMI products and image analysis followed by the Understanding & Meeting Biomass Demand in Alaska Symposium (hosted by the Alaska Northern Forest Cooperative).

This annual meeting of the Alaska SAF will address new research in Alaskan forestry and the economic impact that sustainable management of forests has in Alaska. You are invited to attend two days of presentations from professionals and researchers from all over the state. We've scheduled one day of site visits to demonstrate new technology for forest management and to visit a nursery growing local tree species. We will also be offering one day of training on SDMI products and image analysis. This conference will focus on Alaskan forest management, regional management activities, the economic impact of Alaskan forestry, the impacts of various disturbance and emerging technologies that aid managers in making management decisions.
