This document is the Users Guide for the FireFamily Plus version 3 software system. FireFamily Plus is a software system for summarizing and analyzing historical daily fire weather observations and computing fire danger indices based on the National Fire Danger Rating System (NFDRS) or the Canadian Fire Danger Rating System (CAN). Fire occurrence data can also be analyzed and cross referenced with the weather data to help determine the critical levels for staffing and fire danger for an area. Version 3.0.5.0 is a special FireFamily Plus release at the request of Fire and Aviation Management to respond to the National Wildfire Coordinating Committees' (NWCG) adoption of content standards for Fire Danger Pocket Cards for Firefighter Safety which are required by the 30-Mile Accident Abatement Plan. See the help topic Pocket Card for details. Additional updates include: 1. An updated NFDRS.ocx (to version 3.0.5.0) for calculating fire danger indices. The 78 live fuel moisture model correctly handles a spring green-up for year round stations that may not freeze each winter. The 88 live fuel moisture model correctly handles a spring green-up where the season code never went to winter. 2. Fire records whose Unit/Subunit codes do not match the Agency/Region/Unit/Subunit structure in the active database are NOT REJECTED. They are added to the active database and the internal structure of the active database is updated automatically. The code on the fire record is the code and the name of the Region/Unit/Subunit defaults to value 'Unknown.' You can use MS ACCESS change 'Unknown' to the correct value in the FireRegions, FireUnits, or FireSubunits tables of the active database. 3. FireFamily imports a new DOI-FWS formatted fire occurrence file (FWS-Short) to maintain compatibility with FWS. FWS recently stopped using the DOI-1202 standard fire report. 4. Axis scaling errors for negative values has been corrected. 5. When the Annual Filter is set to a single day (e.g. Aug 15 to Aug 15) subsequent analysis correctly use only Aug 15, not Aug 15 to Aug 14 (the whole year).
