Description

ANNOTATION: This report examines the domestic and international markets for biopower. Domestic and foreign markets present fundamentally different challenges to private power developers. The domestic challenge lies in finding economically viable opportunities for biopower. Volume I outlines the current state of the U.S. biomass industry, discusses policies affecting biomass development, describes some demonstration projects currently underway, and discusses the future direction of the industry. It then explores the relationship between biopower and the impending restructuring of the electric power industry. The U.S. market assessment concludes with a discussion of various technological applications of biomass power.
