During the 1999 fire season approximately 120 thousand acres within Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve were burned by wildfires. To evaluate the long-term impacts of these fires on the preserve, 15 randomly located permanent plots were established in September 1999 within the burned black spruce woodland of the Yukon River Corridor between Nation Bluff and 4 miles east of Kathul Mountain.
