Description

Lesson Overview: Students read the story Once Upon a Wildfire and think about the things that the family in the story did to prepare for a wildfire. This lesson will also serve as a space to set up ground rules and boundaries for wildfire preparedness discussions that will continue throughout the entire unit.

Lesson Goal: Give students an introduction to wildfire preparedness. Set up safe boundaries for discussing wildfire and wildfire preparedness. Provide a base to build off in future lessons.

Objectives:

  • Students can list some ways to be prepared for a wildfire and why they are important.
  • Students can describe their feelings about wildfire.
  • Students can synthesize questions they still have about wildfire preparedness to answer in future lessons.
