Description

Lesson Overview: Students explore the fire triangle through interactive experiments to understand the relationship of heat, fuel, and oxygen with fire. This provides the theoretical underpinnings for how fire works.

Lesson Goal: Increase students’ understanding of the fire triangle through experimentally removing different parts of the triangle and build an understanding of how heat from a fire travels.

Objectives:

  • Students can explain how the different parts of the fire triangle work together.
  • Students can explain the chemical bonds that break during a fire.
  • Students can explain how the heat from a fire travels in a plume and describe what that plume looks like.
