Description

Lesson Overview: Teachers demonstrate a burn board and establish rules for fire experiment safety. Students will get an opportunity to watch one aspect of fire behavior, perhaps density, experimentally test it, and begin to discuss prior knowledge about fire. Students discuss feelings and thoughts about fire and set-up ground rules for how to talk about fire and work with it.

Lesson Goal: Introduce students to working with fire, the fire triangle and the fire behavior triangle.

Objectives:

  • Introduce students to fire safety, the fire triangle, and the fire behavior triangle.
  • Students can identify the control and treatment variable, make a hypothesis, and collect observations on a controlled experiment to prove or disprove their hypotheses.
