Seed traps were arranged under a fire-killed 60 year Picea mariana stand immediately after the fire, and seed collections taken at intervals for 60 days. Much seed was released in the first 10 days, but less than half the natural seedfall occurred during the first 60 days. Viability fell steadily from ca. 60% after the fire to just over 30% at 60 days.
