Description

"Mounting the Attack on Wildfire" is a 18-minute video produced in 1987 by the Canadian Forest Service that offers an overview of the co-operative experimental burning project conducted with the Alberta Forest Service at Big Fish Lake in north-central Alberta during the mid to late 1980s (Ascher and Alexander 1990). This video documentary, which is commonly shown in the national Advanced Wildland Fire Behavior Course, offers a general introduction to the experimental fire behavior research associated with the development of the Canadian Forest Fire Behavior Prediction System (Alexander and Quintilio 1990). As pointed out in the video, the Big Fish Lake Experimental Burning Project "… shows the gains that can be made when fire researchers and fire managers collaborate in producing, or refining, a valuable fire management tool."
